Energy Procurement, Bill Validation and VAT Compliance

• Reviewing existing gas and electricity contracts to ensure the school is receiving optimum /competitive rates.

• Bill Validation historic and current energy bills, including:

  • (HH) Meter readings and estimated consumption

  • Standing charges and unit rates

  • Contract terms and renewal dates

  • Capacity, demand and pass-through charges

  • Climate Change Levy and other applicable charges

• Confirm that the correct VAT rate is being applied. Eligible schools may qualify for reduced-rate VAT on energy where the relevant conditions are met, subject to current HMRC rules.

• Identify billing errors, recover overpayments where possible and introduce ongoing invoice monitoring.

• Provide regular management reports showing consumption, costs, savings and carbon emissions.
